About Kathryn

Kathryn Altus paints landscapes and seascapes often depicting places of geographic or historic significance in the state of Washington. She is known for the depth of field she creates within the bounds of the painted rectangle. Her colors are complex often mixed on the canvas itself. For health and environmental reasons she uses water soluble oil paints.

Originally from Olympia, Washington, Altus is based in Seattle and has lived and worked in both the coastal and eastern parts of the state. She attended Cornish College of the Arts and Washington State University. She is represented by the Harris/Harvey Gallery of Seattle.
